The Entrances

The NYS Parks trail map shows four ways in:

  1. Main Entrance, off Route 290. On the north side, across the road from the Old Erie Canal towpath. This is the one for the beach, both lakes, the campgrounds, the park office and the nature center. Put 7900 Green Lakes Road in your GPS, or use the main-entrance pin on the NYS Parks park page.
  2. Golf Course Entrance, off Route 5. On the south side, between Fayetteville and Chittenango. It leads to the clubhouse, pro shop and Yards Grille, and is marked "closed for winter." See golf course.
  3. Pierson Road lot, on the east side, for the Spruce Ridge, Yellow and Meadowview trails in the park's eastern section.
  4. West-end lot near Route 257, for the Deer Run, Vista and other western trails.

Where to Park Inside

From the main entrance, the park road leads to lots near the park office, the beach and bathhouses at the north end of Green Lake, and on to the Pine Woods and Rolling Hills camping areas. For the Green Lake Trail, the beach lots are closest.

Coming From Syracuse

The park sits east of Syracuse in the Town of Manlius, with the village of Fayetteville to the south-west. The trail map shows Route 290 running along the park's north edge toward Syracuse and Manlius Center, and Route 5 along its south edge toward Fayetteville and Chittenango. Either works; just pick the entrance you need, since the golf entrance does not reach the beach by car.

Busy Days

The beach is near the main entrance and is the park's busiest spot in summer. Arrive in the morning on hot weekends, and remember the $10 fee runs from 8 a.m.

Accessibility

NYS Parks lists an accessible beach, playground, showers and event rentals, and a free all-terrain beach wheelchair, available from the lifeguards from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For other accessibility questions, NYS Parks asks visitors to call the park at (315) 637-6111.
