Peak Season Rules

NYS Parks rents the cabins Saturday to Saturday during peak season, in blocks of 7 or 14 days only. In 2025 the park defined peak season as normally the fourth Saturday in June until the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Outside peak season, nightly stays with a two-night minimum are possible. The renter must be 21 or older.

Where the Cabins Are

The trail map shows the Cabin Colony on the slope above the north-west shore of Round Lake, next to the Rolling Hills Camping Area. The Round Lake Overlook and Round Lake trails run past it, so the National Natural Landmark lake and its old-growth forest are steps away. See Round Lake.

The separate Ladders cabins near the park office at the north end are a youth-group area. NYS Parks built and restored them in 2023 for its "Ladders to the Outdoors" program for children from underserved communities; they are not part of the public cabin rentals.

What to Bring

NYS Parks' park page does not list what is inside the cabins, and this guide won't guess. Check the ReserveAmerica listing for your cabin (beds, power, water) before you pack, and bring your own food.

How to Book

  1. Go to ReserveAmerica's Green Lakes State Park page (linked from the NYS Parks park page) or call 1 (800) 456-2267.
  2. Choose the Cabins loop and your dates. In peak season, pick a Saturday start for 7 or 14 nights.
  3. Pay the nightly or weekly rate plus the $7.25 registration fee.

Summer weeks go first. If the cabins are full, the park's 134 campsites are an alternative; see camping.

Pets

NYS Parks allows a maximum of two pets in campsites and day-use areas, on a leash no longer than 6 feet or crated, and keeps them out of buildings. Check your cabin's ReserveAmerica listing for its own pet rule before you bring one.

Nearby

The beach, boat rentals and the Green Lake Trail are a short walk away, and the golf course is inside the park.
