Camping at Green Lakes
Green Lakes State Park has 134 campsites, each for up to six people, in two camping areas a short walk from the lakes: Pine Woods, on the hill west of Green Lake, and Rolling Hills, north-west of Round Lake. The 2026 camping season ran from May 15 to October 11. Sites cost $20 to $39 a night for New York residents in 2026, plus a $7.25 registration fee per stay, and are booked through ReserveAmerica or by calling 1 (800) 456-2267.

Where the Campsites Are
The NYS Parks trail map shows two camping areas inside the park:
- Pine Woods Camping Area, on the slope just west of Green Lake, with the camp store. Stairs and paths lead down to the Green Lake Trail and the beach.
- Rolling Hills Camping Area, farther south-west, beside the Cabin Colony on the north-west side of Round Lake. The Old Growth and Rolling Hills trails pass through it.
Both are a walk from the beach, the lake trail and the park's main facilities, which is the main appeal: you can swim, hike and paddle without moving the car.

How to Reserve
Book through ReserveAmerica, the reservation system NYS Parks uses, or call 1 (800) 456-2267. The Green Lakes listing on ReserveAmerica shows each loop and site. Summer weekends are the hardest to get, so book as early as the system allows.
Facilities
NYS Parks lists showers among the park's amenities and marks them accessible. The camp store at Pine Woods was open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from May 23 to August 20 in 2026. The beach, playground, boat rentals and the Yards Grille at the golf clubhouse are all inside the park.
Camping With Pets
NYS Parks allows a maximum of two pets in campsites. They must be supervised, and kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet or crated. Bring proof of rabies vaccination; staff may ask to see it. Pets are not allowed on the guarded beach, in the playground or in buildings.
Cabins
If you'd rather not pitch a tent, the park has seven cabins for rent, mostly by the week in summer. See cabins.
What to Do From Camp
- Walk the lakes: the Green Lake Trail is 1.9 miles, the loop of both lakes about three.
- Swim: the beach is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in season.
- Paddle: rent a kayak or rowboat; private boats are not allowed. See boat rentals.
- Golf: the Robert Trent Jones course is inside the park.
- Day trips: Chittenango Falls and Clark Reservation are both state parks in the same region.
